History of August 15
The Bangladesh coup of 15 August 1975 was a military coup organized by middle-ranking armed officers. Officials planned to replace Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's secular government with a pro-Pakistan government led by Khandaker Mushtaq Ahmed. Sheikh Mujib and most of his family members were killed in the coup.
